MOE Scholarship/Teaching Award/Bursary

New Awards

In MOE’s continued efforts to provide more opportunities for the upgrading of educational qualifications of pre-service and in-service Early Childhood educators from not-for-profit kindergartens, we are pleased to announce the launch of the awards for the following programmes:

• the MOE Scholarship for the Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education (B Sc ECE) tenable at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) in collaboration with the Wheelock College.
• the MOE Teaching Award for the Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education — Leadership (ADECCE-L)(part-time) tenable at Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP).

(1) The BSc ECE is a 2-year, full-time programme which is currently open to those with a polytechnic diploma in ECE. It will commence in Jul 2012. This scholarship is available to the pool of in-service teachers working in your kindergarten as well as candidates who you may intend to employ, for instance, the graduating students from the polytechnics. (2) The Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education — Leadership (ADECCE-L) is a part-time course conducted by Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP). It is designed for those with at least a local polytechnic diploma in ECE including those who have undergone the: Advanced Diploma in Kindergarten Education-Teaching (ADKET) and Professional Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (Childcare)[PDECCE(CC)] courses. It will commence in Apr 2012. To find out more about the award and the programme, please refer to:

Application for New Awards

Interested kindergartens may apply to MOE for the awards, and teachers/applicants may apply for the courses directly with the respective course providers. To apply for the MOE awards, please use this application form.

Other MOE Awards

In addition to the new awards for BSc ECE and ADECCE-L, MOE has also introduced awards for other programmes to support not-for-profit kindergartens in their efforts to raise the educational qualification of their teachers and principals. These include the

• MOE Bursary for the Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education — Teaching (DECCE-T) course, conducted by Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic,
• MOE Scholarship and MOE Teaching Award for the following degree programmes conducted by the SIM University (UniSIM):
  • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education with Management (BECEM) and
  • Bachelor of Early Childhood and Chinese Language Education (BECCE)
• MOE Scholarship for Master of Education (Early Childhood) conducted by the National Institute of Education (NIE)

List of MOE Awards for Kindergarten Educators

Eligible criteria for ALL awards

Nominee must:

• be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
• be an MOE-registered teacher or principal working in an MOE-registered and not-for-profit kindergarten OR be nominated by an MOE-registered and not-for-profit kindergarten for full-time student scholars for BSc ECE programme
• have a strong recommendation from kindergarten supervisor or principal for in-service teachers/principals OR a strong recommendation from polytechnic lecturer for full-time student scholars for BSc ECE
• not be a recipient of other scholarships, bursaries or training awards for the same programme
• have been accepted by the institution for the respective programmes
• be 21 years old and above (for programmes BECEM and BECCE)

The MOE Awards for early childhood courses are also available to eligible teachers/principals who are currently attending the programmes mentioned above. Teachers/principals who are interested in the MOE Awards should apply using the respective application forms.
